The Policlinico San Pietro exists since 1963 and has been the hospital of reference for the western area of the province of Bergamo.
Recently expanded and refurbished it covers an area of 26,600 sq.m. and presents itself as a modern and efficient hospital. Affiliated with the Italian National Health Service (SSN) and equipped with a First Aid Department it serves a population of over 150,000 inhabitants.
Inserted in the Bergamo health network, in recent years the Policlinico San Pietro has been a top choice for increasingly many patients arriving from other Italian cities and regions, by virtue of high specialization it has achieved in the areas of medically assisted procreation, orthopaedics and the treatment of obesity.
The latter area, in particular, the presence of the National Institute of Obesity Care (INCO), the Center for Eating Disorders and the Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Unit, offers patients the security of being carefully followed through a personalized, multidisciplinary and complete therapeutic path. In line with the mission pursued, which is summarized in the personalization, technological innovation and efficiency of organizational processes, and with an ability to guarantee patients the best quality standards, from July 2009 the Policlinico San Pietro is certified to be in accordance with the UNI EN ISO 9001 criteria.
The facility was also awarded, in the two-year period of 2016-2017, with two Bollini Rosa honours, a recognition assigned by Onda-Osservatorio for women’s health to structures that stand out for their attention to women and their needs. Among the services available are the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit, Delivery Service (with free of charge labour analgesia available 24/7, rooming in, pre-and-post-delivery courses), paediatrics and neonatology.
